Family owned craft biscuit bakery Percy’s has joined forces with the BMA (British Medical Association) backed charity HEROES, to raise over £250,000 to support frontline NHS staff.
The Percy’s team have been greatly moved by the selfless acts of all the healthcare workers during the COVID-19 crisis. Like the rest of the nation they pay tribute to the NHS by clapping at 8pm on Thursdays. But as a family, they wanted to do more.
Putting their generations of baking knowledge to good use, Percy’s have created a charitable shortbread biscuit in partnership with the new HEROES charity. Run by a team of working doctors, HEROES has a unique insight into exactly what needs to be delivered to help those working on the frontline. Funds raised are benefitting NHS teams at the heart of the crisis through the provision of products and services such as personal protective equipment (PPE), meals, childcare, and counselling.
100% of all profits from sales of their Biscuits will be donated to HEROES, with the aim of raising over £250,000. Production in Percy’s Somerset bakery started w/c 20th April, with product available from 1st May 2020. Already Spar, Harrods, Blakemore’s, Virginia Hayward, & Milk & More have signed up to stock the biscuits. More national retailers & wholesalers will follow shortly.
Percy’s Founder Liam Pithers comments:
“We knew we had to do something to help, & what better than baking our favourite shortbread! Donating all the profits to support the heroic NHS staff is a privilege. We are a country of biscuit lovers, so we want to encourage everyone to Nibble, Dunk, Share & most of all Care."
HEROES Co-Founder, Dr Dominic Pimenta also says:
“At HEROES we have one mission at our heart, to help them help us, and at this point the NHS need our help more than ever before. We are both honoured and excited to partner with Percy’s. It’s a hard, unprecedented time but it’s with support like theirs that means we can go that much further to help NHS staff in their fight against COVID-19”
