Everyone deserves somewhere comfortable to take a break during shifts. A place to prepare hot meals and rest is proven to have a positive impact on mental health. Our research shows that not everybody working in healthcare has access to this.

According to the Alternative NHS Survey, conducted by HWF and NHS Million in 2021;

  • 33% of staff reported they had no staff room at all
  • Only 29% of staff that did, reported their rooms were decorated and furnished to a good standard

Our mission is to refurbish staff rooms across the UK that are in need of some TLC. The Healthcare Workers’ Foundation coordinates the refurbishment and provides up to £2,000 to ensure the rooms have the necessary furniture and equipment.

  • Would you like a better staff room to take your breaks in?
  • Do you work in any healthcare setting such as a hospital, nursing home, dental practice or GP surgery?

If the answer is yes, you can apply for a staff room refurbishment through the Healthcare Workers’ Foundation. It doesn’t matter who your employer is, or what job you do.

Applying for a staff room refurbishment

If you would like to apply for a staff room refurbishment, please complete the application form. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a confirmation email from our team. We will then let you know if we require any further information or evidence to proceed. Following this, a member of our team will be in touch to notify you of the outcome of your application.
